Let’s talk about rock music and how it was developed. Rock music is one of the most popular genre of music that developed during and after the 1960s. It has its roots in 1940s and 1950s rock and roll and rockabilly . This type of music actually evolved from blues, country music and other influences. In turn, rock music drew on many other musical influences, including folk music, jazz and classical. This type of music has the most controversial style in sound and in fashion; from leather jackets, torn jeans, metal studs, make-up, chains, boots and tattoos to star shaped Fashionable Reading Glasses.
Rock music is all about electric guitars combined with the weird sound of distortion or the nicely played acoustic guitar and using strong back beat of electric bass guitar, drums and keyboard instruments or what they call digital synthesizers in 1970 similar to an organ or piano. saxophones and blues-style harmonicas were also used as soloing instruments . Compared to other types of music, rock has much greater audience even though the sound maybe unpleasant to hear but somehow people are drawn by the reality of it’s lyrics and the catchy melody.
In the late 1960s and early 1970s, rock music developed different sub-genres . When it was blended with folk music it created folk rock, with blues to create blues-rock and with jazz, to create jazz-rock fusion. In the 1970s, rock incorporated influences from soul, funk, and latin music. The development of rock music continued as the number of it’s sub-genres increases as well without end. There are new sub-genres such as soft rock, Glam rock, heavy metal, hard rock, progressive rock and punk rock. Rock sub-genres that emerged in the 1980s included New Wave, hardcore punk and alternative rock while grunge, Brit-pop, Indie rock and nu metal came out in 1990s.
A group of musicians specializing in rock music is called a rock band or rock group. Most rock groups consist of an electric guitarist, lead singer or vocalist, bass guitarist and drummer this form is called a quartet but Some groups omit one or more of these roles and or utilize a lead singer who plays an instrument while singing like the “The Beatles”, one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed bands in the history of popular music, selling over a billion records internationally . The Beatles were a pop and rock band from Liverpool, England formed in 1960. Primarily consisting of Paul McCartney (bass guitar, vocals), George Harrison (lead guitar, vocals), Ringo Starr (drums, vocals) and the guy with the famous round Reading Glasses, John Lennon (rhythm guitar, vocals).
